British Deer - A Photographic Celebration
I am delighted that my first book will launch in 2028 – British Deer. This hardback is being published by Bloomsbury, and I can’t thank them enough for their support over the past couple of years and for helping me pull this all together.
Photographing deer has been at the core of my work for the past 10 years or so, and this book is very much a tribute to these stunning mammals. Featuring all six species which are found in the British Isles, I hope this book will inspire others to fall in love with the largest wild mammals found on these islands we call home.
Here is the official description:
‘This photographic celebration of British deer provides a remarkable glimpse into the lives and habitats of these much-loved mammals.
Britain is home to six deer species – Red Deer, Roe Deer, Fallow Deer, Muntjac Deer, Sika Deer and Chinese Water Deer – all of which have certain characteristics that make them well-suited to British habitats.
From the majestic Red Deer, an icon of the Scottish Highlands, to the elegant Fallow Deer with their white-spotted coats, these beautiful mammals are also a favourite subject of wildlife photographers for their unique behaviours and stunning habitats.
Featuring insightful text about the array of deer species that live in the British countryside and the valuable contribution they make to our biodiversity, as well as spectacular images from award-winning wildlife photographer Bret Charman, British Deer chronicles the remarkable lives of these engaging mammals.’
