I recently travelled to Wales to photograph the very beautiful and the relatively rare Red Kite. This bird of prey almost became extinct in the U.K. due to severe persecution. After a huge effort, the Red Kite is starting to spread across the U.K. once more and at Gigrin Farm the birds are fed daily to ensure juveniles always have access to food throughout the year.
The weather conditions were poor and probably the worst lighting I could have imagined. The clouds descended on the Welsh hills and the visibility dropped drastically. The rain then came in and the wind picked up leading to a thoroughly miserable day. Below are probably are the best shots I got on the day as the beautiful birds flew straight at me in the hide.
